How to choose a physio in Wellington
Yes. Physiotherapists are registered health practitioners under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. To practise, a physio must be registered with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and hold a current annual practising certificate. You can check any physio on the Board's public register. Check the Physiotherapy Board register.
- Check the physio on the Physiotherapy Board's public register and confirm they hold a current practising certificate.
- For an accident injury, ask whether they are an ACC provider and what you will pay per visit on top of ACC's share.
- Ask how long appointments are. A 30-minute and a 60-minute visit can carry very different prices.
- Ask whether there are discounts for Community Services Card or Gold Card holders, students or children.
- If you have health insurance, check whether your policy covers private physio and whether you need a referral.
Get at least two written quotes for the same job, and read recent Google reviews rather than relying on the star rating alone. A listing here is not a recommendation: “Listed” businesses have not yet been checked by LocalsBest.
