How to choose a lawn mowing service

  1. Ask the price per mow for your section, and whether edging and taking away clippings are included.
  2. Ask what discount you get for a regular schedule compared with one-off mows.
  3. Check whether the price includes GST. Some sole operators are not GST registered.
  4. Ask what happens when rain cancels a visit, and how you are billed.
  5. Ask whether they have public liability insurance in case of damage from flying stones.

Red flags

  • Changing the price per mow without notice.
  • Leaving clippings on paths and driveways.
  • No way to contact them when visits are missed.
