What changes the price
- Two-wheel or four-wheel: a four-wheel alignment costs about double.
- Vehicle size: 4WDs, SUVs, campervans and light trucks cost more.
- Seized adjusters or worn steering and suspension parts are charged on top.
- Tyre shops often discount an alignment when you buy tyres, and some offer SuperGold card discounts.
Getting a fair quote
- Ask whether your car needs a two-wheel or four-wheel alignment, and which one the quoted price is for.
- Ask for the before and after printout, which shows each angle against the manufacturer's specification.
- Ask whether seized adjusters or worn steering parts would cost extra, and to be phoned before any extra work.
- If you are buying tyres, ask whether an alignment is included or discounted.
Where these prices come from
We do not invent price ranges. Every figure in the table comes from a price guide published by a New Zealand business, directory or government agency, linked below, and is shown as that source published it. These are typical ranges, not quotes. Your price will depend on your job, your location and the business, so get at least two written quotes.
