How to choose a physio in Auckland

Yes. Physiotherapists are registered health practitioners under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. To practise, a physio must be registered with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and hold a current annual practising certificate. You can check any physio on the Board's public register. Check the Physiotherapy Board register.

  1. Check the physio on the Physiotherapy Board's public register and confirm they hold a current practising certificate.
  2. For an accident injury, ask whether they are an ACC provider and what you will pay per visit on top of ACC's share.
  3. Ask how long appointments are. A 30-minute and a 60-minute visit can carry very different prices.
  4. Ask whether there are discounts for Community Services Card or Gold Card holders, students or children.
  5. If you have health insurance, check whether your policy covers private physio and whether you need a referral.

Get at least two written quotes for the same job, and read recent Google reviews rather than relying on the star rating alone. A listing here is not a recommendation: “Listed” businesses have not yet been checked by LocalsBest.
