Mortgage advice is regulated financial advice. A mortgage adviser must give advice through a financial advice provider (FAP) licensed by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA), and both should appear on the Financial Service Providers Register. Advisers must follow the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services, and must tell you in writing how they are paid, including commission and any fee or clawback you could be charged. - Ask what happens after settlement: will they contact you before your fixed rate ends?
